Join Gjon Hazard on a birding walk. We'll meet at Proctor Valley Road (labeled on most map apps as Proctor Valley Natural Resource Area) at 8:00 AM, and continue until about noon. Target birds include a variety of ducks and other waterbirds, including Ridgway’s Rail on freshwater; raptors; and coastal sage scrub and chaparral species, including California Gnatcatcher, Rufous-crowned Sparrow, and maybe Bell’s Sparrow.
There are no restrooms on site. (Nearest restrooms are available at Montevalle City Park less than 2 miles away).
Moderately strenuous waking, 2-3 miles, on dirt trails with rocks and potentially areas of mud.
A spotting scope would be helpful, if you have one.
