Trip Leader: Leo Harris

Biography

Leo Harris (they/them) is an undergraduate student studying Ecology at UC San Diego and a seabird researcher at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. They are currently completing an Honors Thesis studying gut microplastics and prey items in Northern Fulmars under Dr. Tammy Russell in the Vernet Lab, but also leads seabird population monitoring at La Jolla Cove and BirdSafe: an initiative to understand impacts of architecture on migratory birds. Previously, they have worked on the East Coast studying highly-pathogenic avian influenza and its disease ecology within Larinae and Anseriformes.
