Cathy Handzel is a passionate light pollution advocate whose journey began in 2016 in response to light trespass from neighbors’ lighting. Since joining DarkSky International in 2018, she’s created partnerships with local environmental groups like the San Diego Bird Alliance, hosted tabling events, and given educational talks throughout San Diego County. Cathy currently serves as President of the DarkSky San Diego County volunteer chapter, championing night sky preservation and encouraging others to join the dark sky movement.
