Daily Estuary Walks at Low Tide

Daily Estuary Walks at Low Tide

Every day at 3:30 pm, birders can meet in the courtyard at Marina Village Conference Center for an unforgettable estuary exploration. We will walk over to the nearby San Diego River, where it meets the Pacific Ocean, creating a unique ecosystem that serves as a critical habitat for countless bird species.

This guided walk offers exceptional opportunities to observe egrets, herons, gulls, terns, and peeps!  The estuary tidal zones create perfect feeding grounds for these magnificent creatures.

Our experienced guides will help you identify different species, understand their behaviors, and learn about the important role estuaries play in bird migration patterns along the Pacific Flyway. The low tide timing provides optimal viewing conditions as birds concentrate in the exposed mudflats and shallow waters.

Don't forget to bring your binoculars, comfortable walking shoes, and a camera to capture these incredible moments. The walk is suitable for all experience levels and typically lasts 60-90 minutes depending on bird activity and group interest.
